International Overdose Awareness Day is a global event held annually on Aug. 31 to raise awareness of overdose and reduce the stigma of drug-related deaths. It spreads the message that the tragedy of overdose death is preventable.
Locally, partnerships to address the epidemic are critical to tackling the problem and preventing future addiction. These efforts range from criminal justice reform measures around diversion, to distribution of naloxone among community members and first responders, as well as opportunities for safe disposal of unused drugs.
Join us Aug. 31 to help prevent further tragedy and acknowledge the grief that accompanies addiction.
