Oklahoma Students Awarded for Innovation

by

Oklahoma students were named best in state winners of the Verizon Innovative App Challenge, a nationwide contest for the best mobile app idea to solve a problem in a school or community.

Edmond Memorial High School developed “PassMath” to help students with mathematics, and Tulsa’s Union High School created “Community” to assist individuals with finding basic needs resources, with each team earning $5,000 and each member a tablet.

The App Challenge offers a unique, hands-on learning experience and aims to spark greater student interest in the critical STEM (science, technology, engineering, math) disciplines as early as middle school.
