One Hundred Thousand Welcomes

The Irish are well known for many symbols of their culture, from pubs and green shamrocks to music and Riverdance.

Members of the Irish American Club of Tulsa say there is much more to their heritage. Founded in 1977 by Tom Hinchey and Peter Byrne, the nonprofit embodies a deep history that hails from Ireland to the Heartland.

The Irish American Club started with a few Irish-Oklahomans singing songs at a restaurant and pub on St. Patrick’s Day. The club has flourished and now holds traditional Irish dances, sponsors a traditional band and dance group, and supports Celtic concerts.
