Go eye to eye with a bison or a big cat in new exhibition

“I never was so interested in exploring nature in a scientific manner but rather a poetic one.”

From bumbling bees and slithering snakes to charging bison and lurking leopards, the 31 large-scale works in “John Newsom: Nature’s Course” – on view now at Oklahoma Contemporary – represent a culmination of 20+ years of work from the Oklahoma-raised, New York-based artist. Full of vivid details, intense textures and larger-than-life depictions, this mid-career retrospective has visitors to the arts center’s new home wandering the plains, floating among the clouds and prowling through the jungle.

Admissions to Oklahoma Contemporary exhibitions and most programs are free.
