Rose State College recognized for online small business management degree program

Intelligent.com, a trusted resource for program rankings and higher education planning, included Rose State College in its Best Online Small Business Management Degree Program list for 2023.

“In our small business program, students learn to be an entrepreneur and use industry-recognized tools such as feasibility analysis, business plans and financial projections to prepare the student in pursuit of starting and/or elevating their own business,” Rose State Dean Dr. Charles DeSassure said.

Rose State is considered a top-ranked community college with a 21-to-1 student-to-teacher ratio, offering a four-year experience at a two-year community college.

988 Oklahoma is a 24/7 crisis and suicide prevention lifeline connecting Oklahomans to trained professionals and offering the help and resources they need. The commercial brings much-needed awareness of the lifeline and its life-saving services.

Oklahoma’s own Kristin Chenoweth headlines this spot. The commercial uses a dash of humor to bring awareness to the everyday struggles that many suffer from in silence. By personifying “burden,” Kristin’s talents are showcased in various ways before ultimately revealing her purpose in the spot.

Tourism is back: Oklahoma breaks record for visitor spending

It was a very good year. In 2021, 17.7 million people visited Oklahoma, setting a record by generating $10.1 billion in direct visitor spending at a time when the travel industry was extremely hard hit by the pandemic.

More than $748 million in state and local tax revenue was generated, an increase of 3.3% over 2019, supporting 96,800 jobs.

The Oklahoma Tourism and Recreation Department was one of the first states to promote outdoor recreation during that time, and those marketing campaigns paid off. More than $354 million was generated by the state parks alone, creating close to 3,000 jobs.

Rose State is top when it comes to flexible coursework

For the second year in a row, Rose State College has been named as one of the best community colleges in Oklahoma by Intelligent.com, a website that ranks programs in higher education, including those at 3,000 community colleges.

And it came in #1 for Most Flexible Coursework. At Rose State, students have several options when taking classes. They can attend classes in person, with 60 programs to choose from, and also online with more than 20 degrees and certificates available.

Students also have the option of taking FLEX courses, with are a combination of in person, online and Zoom classes.

Nominations open for Women’s Hall of Fame

Do you know an Oklahoma woman who has made enduring contributions to elevating women; or a man or a woman in public office who has helped improve the quality of life for women?

You can nominate them before Feb. 10 to be inducted into the Oklahoma Women’s Hall of Fame. The award ceremony will be held on April 28 in Oklahoma City, and all inductees must be present.

The Oklahoma Commission on the Status of Women has inducted 142 women since the Hall of Fame was established in 1982 by Gov. George Nigh. Nomination forms are available at Oklahoma.gov.
