The Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge was established in 1901 and is home to almost 1,200 unique species of animals and plants. Stretching across 59,020 acres of mixed-grass prairie, you get a serene view of land untouched by human development.

Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge is one of more than 556 refuges throughout the United States managed by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. It was established to protect wildlife species that were in danger of extinction and to restore species that had been eliminated from Oklahoma. The refuge features wildlife watching, hunting, fishing and special events for visitors. Imagine that.
