Oklahoma wind power

Wind power capacity increases each year in the United States, and Oklahoma takes second place in wind-generating states, accounting for 6% of wind power capacity built in 2020, behind only Texas which accounts for 32%.

According to the Energy Information Administration (EIA), wind power will account for 44% of new U.S. generation added in 2020 at 18.5 gigawatts (GW).

Oklahoma has continued to contribute to the nation’s goal of producing clean, reliable and affordable forms of generation, and the efforts are working. Of the 11 GW of generation scheduled to be retired this year, coal makes up 5.8 GW.
