Cornmeal Gifts Become Family Tradition

by

For over 20 years, my dad has given friends and neighbors stoneground cornmeal from corn he grew on his farm in Webbers Falls, Oklahoma, as a gift for Christmas.

A man in Hitchita, Oklahoma, had a gristmill who would grind the corn for my dad. When the man passed away, his family asked my dad to purchase it. Since then my dad has ground cornmeal, bagged it and delivered it to friends, sometimes with a recipe for buttermilk cornbread or cornmeal popovers.

My dad enjoys being able to provide this to friends and family, but the recipients enjoy it more.
