Claremore Resident Recalls Ride to Ground Zero

by

Many Oklahomans reflect back 15 years ago to 9/11 when they first grieved with loved ones in the safety of their homes, but Claremore resident Gary Conger set out to ride horseback all the way from Oklahoma City to ground zero in the Ride “4” America to show support and solidarity between the people of Oklahoma and citizens in New York.

The “4” represented the four terrorist attacks – the A.P. Murrah Federal Building, Shanksville, PA, the Pentagon and the Twin Towers. Four riders united to make the trip, which started on April 19, 2002, and lasted 140 days.
