In the newly released book “The Next American City,” author and four-term Mayor Mick Cornett argues that midsized cities, such as Oklahoma City, Indianapolis, Charleston and Des Moines, produce outsized accomplishments.
Powered by a can-do spirit, these “flyover cities” are leading change in America by valuing compromise over confrontation and progress over political victory. Mayor Cornett sees these cities’ successes as a vision for the future of America through civic engagement, inventive public policy and smart urban design.
